ALIA’s New Generation Advisory Committee (NGAC) are looking for students, new graduates, and early
career professionals to join the NGAC committee.

NGAC primary purpose:

To advocate for the new generation of GLAMR ( Gallery, Library, Archive, Museum and Records Management) workers, enhancing their
involvement and engagement in the sector, and to make their voices heard.

NGAC Committee members can be located anywhere in Australia, including all rural (country area away outside city area), state and
metropolitan (city area) locations. NGAC actively supports an inclusive and diverse profession. Potential members
of any cultural, racial or gender identity, sexual orientation, or physical ability are encouraged to apply.

Essential and desirable criteria:
● Be a current ALIA Member or willing to become one.
● Be relatively new to the sector – you are a current student, a recent LIS course graduate, or an
early-career professional (joined within the last 7 years)
● Possess an understanding of the needs and experiences of new generation professionals,
enabling effective advocacy and support.
● Strong communication skills to effectively convey ideas, collaborate with other committee
members, and represent NGAC.
● Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teams in an online environment.
● Willingness to actively support and promote an inclusive and diverse profession.
● Dedication to actively participate and contribute to the committee’s activities and initiatives.
● Committed to acting ethically, professionally, and positively when representing ALIA in events
and communication, especially in regard to confidentiality.
Skills that are highly regarded:
● Proficient use of social media and online communication tools.
● Written communication, presentation, or visual design skills.
● Interest in research, data collection (surveys), and data analysis.
● Experience working in school libraries, archives, galleries, museums, records, and/or specialist
libraries.
