New Librarians Symposium - A Throwback Thursday look back.

Today we look back at past ALIA New Librarians’ Symposium posts from ALIA SNGG (Facebook, Instagram and X accounts) with a few posts from ALIA Members.

What is the New Librarians’ Symposium?

The New Librarians’ Symposium aka NLS is an ALIA Conference aimed at students and graduate GLAMR professionals. This event was created to be a place were students and graduate professionals can develop GLAMR networks, public speaking and communication skills. At the Symosium attendees have the option to attend Presentation, Lightning Talks and Pannels.

How do Presentation, Lightning Talks and Pannels work?

• Presentations run for 25-minutes (20-minutes presentation + 5-miuntes question time). They can include PowerPoint Presentations of library problems and opportunities, projects and case study chats. 
• Lightning Talks runs for 8-minutes without question time. Include talks on projects, technology and ideas.
• Panels run for 50-minutes (45-minute presentation + 5-minutes question time). Expect PowerPoint Presentations, case study and project chats with discussions on library issues, systems, programs and development.
