Two years ago, I returned to Melbourne after spending a number of years working as a librarian in Darwin, and at the same time took on the position of Convenor of the New Graduates Group.
Times have since changed – we have since seen plenty of new faces getting involved with the group, we’ve worked toward having a more interactive online presence, and we’ve worked to provide social and professionally stimulating events for those emerging in the library and information industry.
But, as is the nature of being a new graduate, the time comes to move on to other things. I’ve been a librarian for four and a half years now, and feel that it’s time to relinquish the “new graduate” hat, and provide the opportunity for somebody else to bring in their new ideas.
And so, I’m handing over the Convenor position to Mel Chivers. Mel is a librarian at RMIT, and has already been active in the NGG committee as a regional coordinator in Victoria.
Please make her welcome, and do send her all your ideas to make the group awesome. And of course, you will still see me milling about at the usual ALIA haunts…
