Hi WA Students and New Grads (SNGG)!  As your new WA Regional Coordinators, we look forward to providing you with opportunities to network, explore professional possibilities and learn new skills.  We are kicking off 2018 with our exciting initiative, GLAMRMatch. We’re also planning a social get together in March so that you can meet the new team and we can learn more about you!

       Havva

I’m Havva, recently completed the Bachelor of Arts (Librarianship and Corporate Information Management) at Curtin University. Currently working part-time at the Curtin University School of Built Environment Resource library as a library officer. In my role, I enjoy helping the students with their 3D printing, and doing some of my own – the possibilities are endless!

I am passionate about helping provide inclusive and free access to information. I love connecting people to things, like other people, resources, and facilities. In my spare time I volunteer for the English Conversation Group at my local public library. Something close to my heart, being a migrant myself. I love this volunteering, hearing the fascinating stories of others and assisting them in learning the colloquial Australian language is a special privilege.

I also enjoy spending quality time with my family, mostly at the beach, reading and soaking up the sun!

   Kristin

I am currently completing my Graduate Diploma in Information and Library Studies at Curtin University. I am also working at several public libraries and enjoying every minute.

As a newcomer to the GLAMR sector in 2017, I have found the community to be very supportive and welcoming and, as a Regional Coordinator, I am looking forward to providing the same welcoming and helpful environment that I was lucky enough to experience.

When I am not working or studying, I can be found reading a good book, practising instruments, or crafting the time away (sometimes even when I should be studying)!

   Sienna

I currently volunteer as the sole librarian in a small environmental science library, where I am learning the ins and outs of special libraries (and their quirks!). I received a Graduate Diploma of Information Services from Edith Cowan University in 2016.

I love to research any topic you can think of. I have special interests in local history and special collections, the use of technology to facilitate lifelong learning, and special libraries and their place in the modern world. I am also interested in tackling the problem of reaching and serving the disenfranchised members of any library community.

I started my professional life as a veterinarian but have since worked in a variety of roles in sales, event management, finance and training.  In 2015, I finally took my family’s advice to follow my passion of connecting people with useful information, by studying a Master of Information Studies (Charles Sturt University), choosing to specialise in Knowledge Management.  I have recently started in a Database Administration role at RSPCA WA and I look forward to bringing a non-library perspective to the SNGG.
