We have officialy sent all of our 2024 #GLAMRmatch invites.
On the topic of #GLAMRmatch, today we take a Throwback look at ALIA SNGG’s ALIA National Library Symposium 2019 aka #NLS9 – ‘Lattes & learning: building lifelong skills with GLAMRmatch‘ workshop. (Click on the link to download PowerPoint presentation slides from the #GLAMRmatch workshop).
ALIA SNGG former team:
Sienna Gilchrist, Havva Teede, Sonja Prokop, Kristen Stephenson and Tamara Capper hosted the workshop.
What was the workshop about?
The workshop spoke about what #GLAMRmatch is.
Workshop participants learned how to: build their professional network, start networking conversations and develop new approaches for goal setting.
The above slide on Conversation Staters looks at questions a Mentor could ask a Mentee on their *GLAM journey.
- What made you persue a GLAMR (Gallery, Library, Archive, Museum, Records Management) career?
- Have you got an area of specific interest or a speciality? (This would apply to an area of librarianship, education, training or volunteering)
- Are you involved in any industry associations or volunteering? This relates to any membership with Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), AusArchivists, RIMPA or IFLA. Volunteering can include ALIA Special Interest Groups or ALIA Regional Groups you are following and volunteering with. Eg. ALIA SNGG
- What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given? (Professional career advice or professional development education advice).
- What are your hopes for the future of the Australian GLAMR sector?
- Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
The workshop concluded with a conversation on starting an Action Plan.
Why do you need an Action Plan?
- Accountability – for your goals. Where you plan on going? How far away you are from the goal?
- Ownership – Think about what goals are important to you. Make room to evaluate your goal for change of goals.
- Be proactive. Make the most of opportunities. Be open for opportunities to learn new skills and start new goals.
