ALIA South Coast Group celebrated GLAMAWARRATHEE. We thank Co-Convenor Rob Thomson for sharing a wrap up and the program for the event with SNGG.
GLAMAWARRA THREE – Post Event Report By : Rob Thomson.
GLAMAWARRA THREE was held on Friday 21st June in the Auditorium of Shellharbour City Library.
The event is meant to celebrate the #GLAM Sector across the Illawarra, Shoalhaven, Southern Highlands, Camden, Campbelltown, Sutherland Shire and beyond and this year I curated the range of presenters to reflect that diversity and breadth.
The program was put together by myself ably supported by ALIA South Coast Group Committee. Registrations were looked after by ALIA Head Office which made that part pretty simple.
Shellharbour City Library and RAECO provided sponsorship which covered morning and afternoon tea and lunch, which helped facilitate networking, which is one of the aims of putting on this kind of event. Getting people in the same space to hear about what is happening across the GLAM sector and letting them network, have conversations and think about collaborations and learning from each other and making those connections is, I think, really important. It is all part of my philosophy of “Just Turning Up”.
The program was pretty varied, and I think, pretty compelling with 14 speakers (1 speaker had to pull out due to illness) from 12 GLAM organisations – Shellharbour City Library; Society of Australian Genealogists; Illawarra Museum; The Servo and NASA Gallery Port Kembla; Mosman Library and the Chau Chak Wing Museum; Sydney Opera House Archives; University of Wollongong Library; Campbelltown City Library; Museum of People and Industry; RAECO; ALIA Head Office; Wollongong City Library.
The day was full of positive energy and good humour an, as the organiser, I think it fulfilled what I set out to achieve by making this a very enjoyable day of continuing professional development for all those who attended.
Rob!

Welcome to GLAMAWARRA THREE. This annual event is designed, curated, and crafted to be a celebration of the GLAM Sector in the Illawarra, Shoalhaven, Southern Highlands, Camden, Campbelltown, Sutherland Shire, and beyond, and is designed to allow for networking across the sector and across the region. I’d urge you to talk to as many people as you can and make connections.
I want to thank Shellharbour City Library for their support and for allowing us to use this auditorium; RAECO for their sponsorship, and to ALIA and ALIA South Coast for their support, but most of all I thank each and every presenter and their organisation for their support of GLAMAWARRA THREE. And I want to thank each and every one of you for coming along and being a part of this day. I really couldn’t do this without you!
