Remarkable Libraries Big and Small & ALIA Silver Pin the Wrap Up!
On Sunday, 20th October, I joined fellow library and ALIA Members at the ALIA Victoria Remarkable Libraries Big & Small Event at PMI Victorian History Library.
Joining my first physical ALIA Event, I had a wonderful time finally meeting people I have often seen on Zoom and taking a photo with the PMI Victorian History Library mascot, Clementine.
I enjoyed hearing Jade, who I’ve known since University, talk about library marketing and social media trends. I discovered new ideas to consider when creating content online and in physical settings for diverse audiences.
Walking around PMI Victorian History Library’s excellent collection, I happily discovered their library carts and trollies had names. A library tend I always enjoy seeing online and in person when I visit a library.
I thank ALIA for my 5-year ALIA Silver Pin award, which I received with fellow CPD Honour Roll recipients.
Other award recipients:
– Louise Komiat (35-year) ALIA Member Pin
– Milena Gates (10-years) CPD Honour Roll
– Regina McDonald (10-year) CPD Honour Roll
Presenters:
– Jade Koekoe aka Misskoko The Librarian from PMI Victorian History Library
– Renee, Law Libraries Victoria
– Renee Rollestone, Whitehorse Manningham Libraries
Tips from the event:
- Library trends have a 4-stage life cycle [Emergence, Growth, Maturity and Decline]
- Create engaging content that will be valuable to your users.
- Promote the library with swag bags.
- Have the same tone across your socials, website and print content.
- Sustainably promote events.
