Our next ALIA SNGG Book Club question has arrived for the week!
Our next ALIA SNGG Book Club, The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde question has arrived for the week!
This week Emily Paull from ALIA Students and New Graduates WA created the discussion topic on Intertextuality.
Jasper Fforde’s story The Eyre Affair references classic texts from the Bronte sisters, William Shakespeare and Charles Dickens.
It is also important to note that in this story, the Internet and mobile phone technology are not in existence. And William Shakespeare’s sonnets can be listened to in street vending machines.
- Do you think a familiarity with Bronte, Shakespeare and Dickens texts is essential for reading this book?
- Do you read books by authors referenced in books?
- If you could visit the inner world of any book, which would you choose?
Stay tuned to the ALIA SNGG WordPress Blog for Week 3 Discussion next week!
