ALIA Event Wrap-up: Libraries for Good with ALIA Island
On the 14th March, ALIA Island hosted the Libraries for Good event at the University of Tasmania Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies.
At this event, attendees had a chance to discuss all the good that libraries bring to their communities. Long-term ALIA members were awarded membership pins, celebrating their careers and contributions to the sector. Afterwards, there were also engaging lightning talks and a panel discussion. Event attendees also had the chance to meet ALIA Island Co-Convens Lily Fletcher Stojcevski and Nathan Hunkin.
ALIA Membership pins were awarded to:
- Dr Jillian Abell (50-year ALIA Member) – Consultant and schools’ registration officer in OER and the Tasmanian non-government sector.
- Linda Luther (50-year ALIA member) – Retired University Librarian at UTAS
- Sarah Bromfield (25-year ALIA Member) – College Librarian K-10 at Dominic College
Guest speakers:
- Petrina Osborne (Libraries Tasmania)
- Ruairi Murphy (UTAS)
- Lia Unwin (Mornington Core Library)
- Hannah Vander Helm (TasTAFE)
